About sarah
Passion and inspiration are what drives every aspect of my life. I’m a sensitive, touchy feely gal that loves beauty. In people, in places, in art, and even in food. Nothing escapes me in the details. I notice every stitch detail on a dress and take note of every spice added to a new dish in a restaurant.
I grew up in a small town in Illinois and served in the military in a non combat role as a means to pay for college. I graduated from the University of Illinois in Springfield with a Psychology degree with minors in Biology and Chemistry. Married right out of college I moved to Iowa and worked in Human Resources while serving many non-profits in the area.
Five years later, after the sale of my husbands business we decided it was my turn to pursue one of my passions. We moved to
the Lake of the Ozarks where I owned Studio, a successful clothing and home décor boutique, from 2005-2010. The great recession of 2008 brought great challenges for the boutique. That coupled with my husband being diagnosed with cancer in 2009 didn’t make owning a store in Missouri feasible. We needed to be closer to his family. Moving back and putting my fashion interests on hold was the best thing us. My husband struggled with his cancer and I loaded up merchandise and did pop ups in spas, trunk shows all over the Midwest and even converted our basement into a mini boutique. Eventually I opened a small store in Iowa but there wasn’t a large enough audience for the merchandise I was interested in carrying. Fashion was officially moved to the backburner.
During that time I also became the CEO of the United Way in the area. I enjoyed the non-profit arena. Although not financially profitable, I found gratification in helping people live better lives because of my efforts. My husband finally got his clean bill of health and the stress of the what if’s subsided.
Fast forward to 2015, I became a forty something “mature” mother to a miracle baby and enthusiastically changed career paths. As a certifiable spa junky I had lots of experience visiting spas all over the world. I needed a career that allowed me to balance being a working mother. I quickly obtained the training and became a Licensed Massage Therapist. I immediately purchased an existing business and built a great clientele that I love. Finally, the balance between work and family life.
Always an entrepreneur and appreciator of the finer things in life I often posted the latest recipe or fabulous fashion find on Facebook or Instagram. I found a barrage of requests for recipes or fashion advice. I had authored an “old school” newsletter for years when I had my boutique and loved publishing the articles and getting responses from clients.
So - here we are… a new time, a new place and a modern way to communicate to all of you. Enjoy!
